Plymouth loan Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Macey

Arsenal announce that they have allowed goalkeeper Matt Macey to go out on loan to Plymouth Argyle for the season.

Plymouth Argyle have completed the season-long loan signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Macey.

The League One outfit brought in Wolverhampton Wanderers stopper Harry Burgoyne earlier in the summer, but the youngster has sustained a broken ankle in training.

That has resulted in a similar deal being agreed for Macey, who has been forced further down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium due to the arrival of Bernd Leno.

Macey made two first-team outings for Arsenal last season, with his debut coming against Norwich City in the EFL Cup before a further appearance came against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League.

The 23-year-old could make his debut when Plymouth face Walsall on Saturday afternoon.
