Arsenal defender William Saliba is reportedly in no rush to sign a new deal, with his current contract set to expire in June 2024.

Arsenal defender William Saliba is reportedly in no hurry to sign a new deal with the club.

Despite signing for Arsenal in 2019, Saliba had to wait until the beginning of the current season to make his debut for the Gunners.

Following loan spells with Saint-Etienne, Nice and Marseille, Saliba has become an integral part of the Arsenal defence this season, starting all seven of their Premier League games.

The 21-year-old has also chipped in with two goals and one assist this season, and as a result of his impressive performances, the Gunners are looking to extend his current contract, which expires in June 2024.

However, according to The Mirror, the France international is in no hurry to sign a new deal despite his agent previously hinting that a new contract was close to being agreed in the summer.

With his stock continuing to rise, Saliba is aware he is in the driving seat in any negotiations, with Arsenal hoping to agree a new deal before next summer.

However, the Gunners are currently focusing on extending the contracts of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, which could put talks with Saliba on the back burner.
