Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has revealed that Filipe Luis will "be arriving very soon" at the Vicente Calderon.
Luis represented Atleti between 2010 and 2014, before making the move to Chelsea last summer.
The Brazilian struggled to settle in England, however, and is closing on a £15m return to the Spanish capital.
Cerezo has also claimed that Luis's arrival does not necessary signal the end of Guilherme Siqueira's career with the club, as has been reported in the last couple of days.
"As for Filipe, I think he'll be arriving very soon. Siqueira is a great player and it's possible that we'll keep him too. I love the squad we have, the additions have been fantastic and we're going to have a really great season," Cerezo told reporters.
The deal for Luis is expected to be completed before the end of the week.
