Borussia Dortmund are expected to rival Liverpool for the signature of PSV Eindhoven forward Donyell Malen, according to a report.
BVB's attacking forces for the 2021-22 season have taken a hit following the news that Manchester United have agreed a £73m deal for Jadon Sancho, whose move will be made official after Euro 2020.
Dortmund are expected to keep hold of Erling Braut Haaland for another 12 months, but the loss of Sancho means that Marco Rose will likely be in the market for at least one new forward this summer.
Liverpool are thought to be preparing discussions with Malen, but German outlet Bild reports that Dortmund are ready to steal a march on the Reds in the race for the Netherlands international.
The report adds that Dortmund would have the upper hand in a bidding war due to the cash they will receive for Sancho's departure, and with Malen still only 22, he could elect to move to the club renowned for their development of young players.
Malen claimed two assists in four appearances for his country at Euro 2020 and netted 19 goals from 32 appearances in the 2020-21 Eredivisie season.
