Wilfried Bony will not get his wish to prove his point at Manchester City next season as the club are hopeful of receiving a £14m bid, according to a report.

Manchester City are reportedly hopeful of recouping at least half of their £28m outlay for Wilfried Bony thanks to interest from the Chinese Super League.

The Ivory Coast international was determined to prove his worth at the Etihad Stadium this coming season after returning from an unsuccessful loan stint with Stoke City, which saw him net just two goals.

Bony is expected to be offloaded in the coming weeks, however, with The Independent reporting that some unnamed teams from the Far East have joined Ligue 1 side Lille in making enquiries over the unwanted striker's availability.

It is claimed that the 28-year-old's representatives want him to remain in the Premier League, but it is unlikely that any team will offer the £14m City are hoping for.

Bony scored 18 league goals for Swansea City in 2014 to earn a move to Man City, though he has found the net just eight times in the top flight in the past two-and-a-half years.
