Angel di Maria hails David de Gea display

Angel di Maria praises Manchester United teammate David de Gea for his match-winning performance during Sunday's 2-1 victory over Everton.

Manchester United winger Angel di Maria has praised teammate David de Gea for his match-winning performance during Sunday's victory over Everton.

The Spaniard saved a Leighton Baines penalty in the first half before making a string of fine stops late on as United triumphed 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Di Maria was named man of the match after scoring his third goal of the season for the Red Devils, but the Argentine believes that De Gea should be given the plaudits.

"I think David is the guy the who deserves [the man of the match award] rather than myself," he told BT Sport. "He saved us throughout the game and particularly towards the end and the penalty as well."

United are back in action on October 20 when they travel to West Bromwich Albion in the league.
