Manchester United utility player Phil Jones has said that he sees himself ending up in central defence as his career develops.
The 19-year-old has been played at right-back, midfield and centre-half by Alex Ferguson since moving from Blackburn Rovers for £16.5m in the summer.
Jones also started in midfield when he was selected for England's recent friendlies with Spain and Sweden.
"My favourite position is centre-back and I think that's where I'll end up as my career develops," Jones said.
"Hopefully in time I'll nail down a regular place in a set position although, for now, I'm just happy to play football.
"But versatility is always an advantage. It allows you to play more. I don't see how it could be a disadvantage. The only positions I've never played in are left midfield, left-back and goalkeeper."
Jones's versatility was recently praised by Fabio Capello after England's 1-0 win over Sweden.
