Manchester United have announced that club captain Bruno Fernandes has signed a new contract at Old Trafford, putting an end to the speculation surrounding his future.
In recent months, there have been suggestions that the Portugal international could be on the move this summer, with clubs from Europe and Saudi Arabia said to be keeping a close eye on his situation in Manchester.
However, a transfer this summer has now officially been ruled out, with Man United confirming that their captain has signed a new deal until June 2027, with the option of a further 12 months.
Fernandes is believed to have received a salary increase to put him in line with the top earners at the club, which include Casemiro and Marcus Rashford.
"Bruno Fernandes has signed a new contract that will extend his stay with Manchester United until 30 June 2027, with the option for a further year," read a statement on Man United's official website.

Fernandes signs new contract at Man United
Fernandes has said that he is "relishing" the opportunity to lead Man United into a new era, with the club undergoing major changes since the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe as a minority shareholder.
"Everybody knows the passion I have for Manchester United. I understand the responsibility and significance of wearing this shirt, and the levels of dedication and desire required to represent this incredible club," the 29-year-old told Man United's official website.
"I have had so many special moments here already; hearing my name sung from the Stretford End, scoring a hat-trick against Leeds, leading the team out at Old Trafford on European nights and lifting trophies at Wembley. But I wouldn't have signed this contract if I didn't believe that my best moments in a United shirt are still to come.
"From my discussions with the football leadership and manager, it is clear how determined everyone is to fight for major trophies in the years ahead. I can see how positive the future is going to be and I am relishing leading this team forward."

Ashworth hails "brilliant leader" Fernandes
Meanwhile, Man United's sporting director Dan Ashworth added: "Bruno has performed at such a high level with remarkable consistency since he arrived at Manchester United. He is a brilliant leader, driving the daily standards and inspiring the players and staff to perform at their highest levels every day.
"Bruno's dedication to the club epitomises what it takes to be a United player. He remains pivotal to everything that we want to achieve here, and we look forward to working together to deliver the success that this club demands."
Fernandes provided the assist for Alejandro Garnacho to register in the Community Shield on Saturday, and he also scored in the penalty shootout at the end of the contest, which Manchester City won.
The Portuguese arrived at Man United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, and he has represented the 20-time English champions on 234 occasions, scoring 79 goals and registering 67 assists in the process.
