Manchester United could reportedly land Tottenham Hotspur's Toby Alderweireld during the January transfer window, having tried and failed to sign the centre-back during the summer.
Alderweireld was strongly linked with a switch to Old Trafford ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, but the Belgium international ultimately remained at Spurs.
However, according to The Sun, United boss Jose Mourinho has been informed that funds will be made available to bring a new centre-back to the club in January, and Alderweireld remains the leading target.
The 29-year-old will see his current deal with Spurs expire at the end of the season.
The Belgium international will be available for £25m in the final two weeks of next summer's transfer window if Tottenham trigger a one-year extension on his contract though, which is expected to see the defender depart.
Alderweireld has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham this season.
