David Connolly insists that no-one at Southampton is getting carried away with the club's winning start to the season.

Striker David Connolly has insisted there is a lot of hard work ahead for Southampton, despite a winning start to the season.

The newly-promoted Saints have recorded victories against Leeds United and Barnsley in their opening two fixtures but Connolly said that the players are remaining grounded.

"It's only two games in, so there's a long way to go," Saints' leading goalscorer told the club's official website.

"We've hit the ground running, but it's a long, long season and everyone has got points to prove so let's hope it stays like that and we'll see where we are at the end of the season."

Southampton face a trip to Ipswich Town this Tuesday.
