Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has confirmed that the club are preparing to offer Peter Crouch a new contract.
The Englishman's current deal expires at the end of the season and he has been strongly linked with a move to West Bromwich Albion.
However, Hughes has claimed that the 33-year-old striker will be offered a new deal "for the next two or three years".
"We have been in talks for a long time and we need to put something in front of him. That makes sense to him and to us and I would anticipate that happening some time this week," Hughes told the Stoke Sentinel.
"There is an obvious connection [with the possible Tony Pulis reunion] and so people will do their sums and make five.
"We want to make Peter happy with a contract for the next two or three years or however long he's here."
Crouch has scored five times for Stoke this season.
