David Pocock to leave Western Force at end of season

Australian international David Pocock will leave Western Force at the end of the season.

Western Force have announced that Australian international David Pocock will leave the club at the end of the season.

Pocock, who has come through the ranks at the Perth-based club, is regarded as the world's best young open-sides.

"For the past six months, RugbyWA has done everything within its power to retain [Pocock's] services as a leading player within the Emirates Western Force," said a club statement.

The back-rower is expected to seek a move to a title-challenging club.

"David's concerns were principally around the club's inability to recruit high-profile players with this challenge highlighted by the recent opportunity presented to Will Genia which ultimately was unsuccessful in bringing him to WA," added the statement.

"While we are disappointed with his decision, we wish David well."

Pocock was shortlisted for IRB International Player of the Year in 2010 and 2011.
