Lawrie Wilson leads Charlton Athletic to victory

Lawrie Wilson scores a brace to help give Charlton a 3-2 comeback victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Charlton Athletic beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-2 as the sides met in the Championship this afternoon, thanks to a brace from Lawrie Wilson.

The visitors spurned a great opportunity in the opening minutes when Andrew Crofts blazed over having been played in by David Lopez.

Will Buckley pulled the strings in the Brighton midfield and he played in Liam Bridcutt in the 17th minute, but he couldn't make the most of the chance as he crashed the ball wide of the target.

Albion continued to dominate the first half and they soon took the lead through Leonardo Ulloa, who converted from the centre of the box with his left foot.

However, Charlton hit back out of the blue when Wilson was found by Yann Kermorgant, allowing him to finish with his right to level the scores.

Wilson fired the hosts in front after half time having converted into the top right-hand corner.

Kermorgant was able to apply the gloss to Charlton's comeback in the 75th minute when he stepped up to convert a free kick into the top left-hand corner of the Brighton goal.

Albion ensured a tight finish to the game though, as Ulloa added his side's second in injury time, although it was too little too late as Charlton ran out 3-2 victors.
