Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has praised the strength of competition at the club.

The Blues, who started the Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Hull City on Sunday, have added three new players to their squad this summer.

"If you're not playing in certain games you have to be ready to come on and be able to contribute," Lampard told the club's official website.

"Any squad that wants to win things these days has to have a strong squad, and when you look at our bench, and beyond that, that's what we have."

Chelsea return to league action on Wednesday when they welcome Aston Villa to Stamford Bridge.
