Half-Time Report: Ipswich Town hold Burnley

Ipswich Town hold high-flying Burnley to a goalless draw at half time at Portman Road this afternoon.

Ipswich Town have held Championship leaders Burnley to a 0-0 half-time draw at Portman Road.

Both teams soon found their stride following an insipid opening to proceedings at a rain-soaked Portman Road, with Ipswich striker David McGoldrick the recipient of the game's first chance, but his tame effort trickled into the arms of goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

The league leaders soon began to replicate the form which has seen them ascend to the summit of England's second tier, as full-back Kieran Trippier galloped down the flank but nobody was on hand to convert his teasing pass across the face of goal.

However, Mick McCarthy watched on as his team came perilously close to opening the scoring on the brink of half time.

Cole Skuse saw his bid to break the deadlock rebuffed by Jason Shackell, who cleared off the line, before the 27-year-old tried his luck from range but saw his effort whistle past the post.
