Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva: "It was a deserved win"

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva believes that, although his side's display against Chelsea was not perfect, they deserved their 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has said that his side "deserved" their 3-1 comeback victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Reds fell behind to an early strike from Ramires, but Philippe Coutinho levelled the scores on the stroke of half time.

The Brazilian notched his second goal after Lucas was fortunate to escape a second booking for a challenge on Ramires, while Christian Benteke secured the win with a strike in the 83rd minute to hand Jurgen Klopp his first win in the Premier League.

Lucas told the club's official website: "I wouldn't say it [the performance] was perfect but I think it was enough to win the game.

"We conceded an early goal and during the last few months if we conceded a goal our body language maybe wasn't the best, but after the Southampton game the manager spoke to us and said you can't think too much about a goal if you concede it, and you just need to get back on your game.

"That's what we did I think and the goal came at the right time for us just before half-time, but even in the first-half I thought we were the better team. In the second-half I thought both teams had chances but we looked really solid defending and on the counter-attack we took our chances and I thought it was a deserved win."

Liverpool rose to seventh in the Premier League with their win over the Blues.
