Viktor Gyokeres addresses the speculation over his future at Sporting Lisbon amid interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres has insisted that he is not paying too much attention to speculation about his future amid reported interest from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

The 25-year-old joined Sporting from Championship club Coventry City last summer for a reported €21m (£17.9m) and has since established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.

Gyokeres has contributed to a remarkable 50 goals in just 36 appearances for Sporting across all competitions this season, scoring 36 goals and registering 14 assists.

The Sweden international is currently the top scorer in the Primeira Liga with 22 goals in 24 matches, with Sporting sitting one point clear of rivals and reigning champions Benfica at the top of the table.

Gyokeres's impressive form has understandably caught the eye of a number of top European clubs, with both Arsenal and Chelsea among those that have been credited with a strong interest in the striker.

A recent report claims that Arsenal have identified Gyokeres as their number one forward target ahead of this summer's transfer window.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has also hinted that the North Londoners will pursue a new striker ahead of the new season despite their recent form in front of goal – scoring 33 goals in their last eight Premier League games.

Chelsea have also been tipped to make a big-money move for Gyokeres, as have Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan.

However, Gyokeres is "extremely well" at Sporting and is under "no stress" regarding his future ahead of the summer.

Speaking about the speculation surrounding his future during an interview with Swedish news outlet Fotbollskanalen, Gyokeres said: "It's a sign that I've performed well. But it's not something I take too seriously, since it's just speculation. But of course it's fun.

"We'll see this summer. It's not something I know about myself, what will happen. I enjoy Sporting extremely well and feel no stress about the summer coming quickly."

Gyokeres added: "It is clear that what I have done has attracted attention, but it is not really my focus in everyday life. But of course it's fun that I have fans who appreciate what I've done."

The Stockholm-born striker is understood to possess a €100m (£85.5m) release clause in his Sporting Lisbon contract that expires in the summer of 2028.

Gyokeres is not the only high-profile striker that has been tipped to join a top European club this summer, as the likes of Napoli's Victor Osimhen, Brentford's Ivan Toney, Bologna's Joshua Zirkzee, RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Brighton & Hove Albion's Evan Ferguson have all been linked with potential moves elsewhere.
