Manchester United starlet Callum Gribbin reportedly turned down the chance to join arch-rivals Manchester City earlier this year.
The 16-year-old, who trained with the Red Devils' first team in the summer, is thought to have been offered an £11,000-a-week deal to make the controversial cross-city move.
According to The Mirror, the Citizens were eager to pounce when the playmaker's future looked to be in doubt, but members of United's coaching staff - including assistant boss Ryan Giggs - intervened and convinced him to stay.
Gribbin, also a rumoured target for Liverpool in the past, currently plies his trade for the club's Under-18s side, while also featuring for the Under-21s when making his debut against Man City last season.
