Manchester United will allegedly have to make some first-team sales in order to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat this summer.

Manchester United are reportedly keen to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat this summer but will have to make some first-team sales before the deal becomes a real possibility.

The Red Devils have already boosted their midfield in the current market with the acquisition of Mason Mount, who has made the move to Old Trafford in a £55m deal from Chelsea.

Erik ten Hag's side are also said to be closing in on the signature of Inter Milan's Andre Onana, who is set to become the club's new number one goalkeeper following David de Gea's exit.

Rasmus Hojlund is now the club's leading target in the final third of the field, with the 20-time English champions in discussions with Atalanta BC over a move for the Denmark international.

However, Ten Hag is also said to be keen to sign a second midfielder this summer, with Amrabat being strongly linked with a switch to Old Trafford over the last few weeks.

According to The Independent, Man United are keen on the Morocco international and have already made 'initial overtures' for the 26-year-old.

However, the report claims that a deal for the midfielder depends on sales, as the Red Devils need to sanction some first-team outgoings to boost their budget, with Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay and Fred all being linked with exits.

West Ham United and Newcastle United are currently being linked with Maguire, while the same two clubs are also believed to be interested in signing McTominay.

Fred's future is also currently the subject of much speculation, with the Red Devils believed to have rejected an offer from Galatasaray for the Brazil international.

Amrabat is widely expected to leave Fiorentina during this summer's transfer window, with Barcelona also being heavily linked with his services after an impressive campaign in Italy.

The midfielder helped his Serie A side reach the final of the Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League during the 2022-23 season, which saw him make 49 appearances in all competitions.

Amrabat was also in excellent form for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup, playing a key role in his country making it to the semi-finals of the competition in Qatar.

There have been suggestions that the midfielder has already come to an agreement with Man United over personal terms, with Amrabat keen on a switch to the Premier League.

Ten Hag's side started their preparations for the 2023-24 campaign with a 2-0 victory over Leeds United last Wednesday, with Mount debuting in the pre-season friendly.
