Manchester United's Daley Blind is wanted by both Barcelona and Real Madrid as defensive cover, according to a report.

La Liga rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly in the hunt to sign versatile defender Daley Blind from Manchester United in the January transfer window.

The Netherlands international is said to be up for sale after struggling for first-team football this term, starting just three Premier League games in total.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the 27-year-old has attracted interest from Barca and Madrid as both teams are looking for defensive cover.

Blind, who joined United in 2014 under the management of Louis van Gaal, was once again an unused sub in Saturday's goalless draw with Southampton at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal recently suggested that his former player would be "better off" joining Barcelona in the New Year.
