Swansea City head coach Carlos Carvalhal admits that he is pleased to have Alfie Mawson back in training after suffering a knee injury last week.

Swansea City head coach Carlos Carvalhal has suggested that Alfie Mawson will go straight back into the starting lineup this weekend.

During the warm-up ahead of the FA Cup fifth-round tie with Sheffield Wednesday, Mawson sustained a knee problem and was forced to sit out the game at Hillsborough.

However, the centre-back has since undergone a scan and been given permission to return to training, and Carvalhal has revealed that one of his key men has experienced 'no problems' in the build-up to Saturday's encounter at Brighton & Hove Albion.

At a press conference, the 52-year-old told reporters: "Alfie is okay, he is training now. He has recovered as we expected so there is no problem. He will be available to be in the 18 on Saturday."

Swansea currently sit in 16th position in the top-flight standings.
