England’s Andrew Sheridan has been forced to leave the Rugby World Cup with a shoulder injury.
The prop picked up the knock during England’s 13-9 victory over Argentina in their opening World Cup game.
The Sale Sharks man had previously had two operations on the shoulder and returned from surgery for the problem for England’s World Cup warm-up match against Ireland last month.
The 31-year-old will return home from New Zealand to receive further treatment.
"It's sad for Sheri, he's been unlucky. We brought five props so have options," England boss Martin Johnson commented.
England’s next World Cup match will be against Georgia on Sunday, September 18.
