British number one Johanna Konta has reached the quarter-finals of the China Open by defeating world number six Karolina Pliskova in Beijing.
The 25-year-old, who is eyeing a place in the season-ending WTA Finals, sealed a 6-1 3-6 7-6(2) victory in a match that was hampered by a rain delay.
Konta raced to a 4-1 lead in the first set before weather disrupted the match, but it did not affect the Brit as she returned to the court to take the lead.
Pliskova bounced back in the second set as she snatched serve on her seventh break point and maintained her advantage to level the match.
Both dropped serve in their opening games of the third set, with the battle resulting in a tie-break, which ended 7-2 in Konta's favour.
