Sheffield Wednesday hold Blackburn Rovers

Sheffield Wednesday produce a strong defensive display to keep Blackburn Rovers at bay for 90 minutes at Ewood Park today.

Sheffield Wednesday have held Blackburn Rovers to a goalless draw at Ewood Park in the Championship this afternoon.

Rovers hitman Jordan Rhodes, who struck the winner in the 1-0 win over Yeovil Town at the weekend, came closest to opening the scoring but Chris Kirkland denied the former Huddersfield talisman.

The hosts forged a better opportunity midway through the second half, with Rudy Gestede - playing in the absence of the injured David Dunn - forced Kirkland into another smart save.

Gary Bowyer's men enjoyed a wealth of possession but struggled in their attempts to break down the resolute Owls, who held on to secure a point from the trip to Lancashire.

Consequently, Stuart Gray's men remain in the relegation zone in the Championship table, while Rovers sit 10th, three points adrift of the playoff places.
