Brazil open up their Olympic Group E campaign with a comfortable 5-0 win over Cameroon.

Brazil have opened up their Olympic Group E campaign with a comfortable 5-0 win over Cameroon.

The Yellows made a fine start to proceedings and secured the lead after just seven minutes when Francielle struck a free kick into the far corner.

It was quickly 2-0 just four minutes later when Renata Costa thumped a header into the back of the net from close range.

Cameroon had a chance of their own after 15 minutes when Ajara Nhout struck from outside the box, but it just moved wide of the post.

The Greens did improve as the half approached its latter stages, but Brazil entered the break with their 2-0 lead intact.

The Brazilians continued to threaten in the second period, and Marta just fired wide with 56 minutes on the clock.

Formiga might have added a third on the hour mark, but Annette Ngo Ndom pushed the ball to safety.

Brazil made sure of the points when Marta tucked away a penalty with 73 minutes on the clock after she had been felled by Bebey Beyene, while Cristiane and Marta confirmed the 5-0 victory late on.
