Charlton Athletic loan out goalkeeper Nick Pope

League Two side Bury complete the loan signing of young Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Nick Pope.

Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Nick Pope has joined Bury on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old deputised between the posts in place of the injured Stephen Henderson earlier this season, but the recent arrival of Neil Etheridge has seen Pope fall down the pecking order at The Valley.

As a result, the Addicks have sanctioned his loan exit to the League Two high-flyers, although goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts has insisted that Pope still has a future at Charlton.

"Popey has gone until the end of the season to hopefully chase promotion," Roberts told the club's official website.

"We see him as an asset to Charlton and spending the second half of this season on loan was always part of the long-term development plan we have in place for him.

"He got his chance sooner than expected this season due to Stephen's injury and generally did well. He will benefit from those experiences further down the line and this spell at Bury will be another good opportunity for him to play 25 or so games of football at a competitive level."

Roberts also confirmed that Charlton have signed Serbia Under-21 goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic on an 18-month contract.
