Russell Slade: 'Jamie Jones facing two-month absence'

Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade says that goalkeeper Jamie Jones could be out for up to two months after sustaining a back injury.

Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade has revealed that Jamie Jones could be out for "a couple of months" after the goalkeeper sustained a stress fracture in his back.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper was replaced by Jake Larkins in the starting lineup for the 2-1 victory over Gillingham today and, speaking to the club's official website, Slade confirmed that Jones could be out until March through injury.

He said: "Jamie Jones has a stress fracture in his back so we'll see how that is but it could be a couple of months. I thought Jake did well."

The Londoners, who sit top of the League One table ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers on goal difference, were forced to come from behind to beat the Gills after Adebayo Akinfenwa opened the scoring in the fourth minute.

However, Marvin Bartley levelled matters before Yohann Lasimant struck in the dying stages to claim all three points, and Slade hailed the "tremendous character" shown by his team to steal the win.

He added: "We showed tremendous character and kept on going. I told them to just keep playing and between the boxes we dominated."

Orient travel to the West Midlands for a clash with co-leaders Wolves on Sunday.
