Graeme Souness: 'Do not write Manchester United off'

Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness believes that Manchester United should not be written off as Premier League title challengers.

Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness has tipped Manchester United to keep pushing Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the Premier League table.

The Red Devils suffered a setback in the title race as they were beaten 2-1 at Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Spurs beat Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday while table-topping Manchester City saw off Burnley 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium a day earlier.

Despite the result putting United five points behind the Citizens and above Spurs only on goal difference, Souness believes that Jose Mourinho's side will be back to their best once some of their key players return.

"Manchester United have people missing. We are not mentioning Zlatan Ibrahimovic coming back at Christmas," Souness told Sky Sports News.

"That will give United a lift, the effect he will have on the dressing room. I can imagine that's enormous so don't write Manchester United off. Nobody will roll them over.

"They will be among the big teams and cause them problems as well but right now if you are asking anyone, [the top teams are] Tottenham and City."

Up next for United in the Premier League is a home game against Spurs on Saturday.
