Rangers too strong for Stranraer

Third-placed Stranraer are defeated 2-0 at home to Rangers in the Scottish League One fixture at Stair Park.

Rangers have strengthened their advantage at the top of the Scottish League One table with victory over third-placed Stranraer.

Lee Wallace fired the visitors into a fourth-minute lead, running into the box before shooting across David Mitchell and into the back of the net.

Moments after the restart, Cammy Bell was forced into a fine save to deny the Blues drawing level almost instantly at Stair Park.

Scott Robertson forced Bell into another save shortly after, turning inside the box before unleashing a shot on goal which the keeper managed to turn behind to ensure his side held the lead going into half time.

Substitute Andrew Little looked to add a second for Rangers, linking up with Richard Foster in the opposition box, though he failed to get a shot in at goal from a promising position.

With minutes remaining Rangers did manage to double their advantage courtesy of Jon Daly, with the striker nipping the ball away from Mitchell to tap into an empty net and secure the three points.
