Real Madrid and Newcastle United will reportedly do battle for the signature of Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

Real Madrid and Newcastle United are reportedly set to go head to head for the signature of Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

The 21-year-old has been persistently linked with a move away from Les Dogues following an impressive 2019-20 campaign in France's top flight.

The Spanish capital has been touted as a possible destination for Soumare, while Liverpool and Barcelona have also been credited with an interest.

However, Sport claims that Newcastle have not yet given up hope of signing the highly-rated midfielder, who was reportedly close to joining Steve Bruce's side in the January transfer window.

The report also claims that Soumare remains firmly on Zinedine Zidane's radar, although Lille have not yet accepted any offers for the France Under-21 international.

Soumare's current deal at Lille will run until the end of the 2021-22 season.
