Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson has admitted that he is yet to decide if he will offer David Weir a contract.
The veteran defender has been training with the Blades since leaving Glasgow Rangers last month.
However, Wilson is still unsure as to whether he wants to add the 41-year-old to his squad.
"It is open-ended and we have both sat down and been honest," Wilson told the Daily Record. "If there is nothing for him I will get straight to the point.
"If there is something there for him he'll fight tooth and nail to get in a position where he is challenging on merit. It won't be a sympathy vote for Davie.
"Likewise, if he finds that he can go and play somewhere else, we will shake hands and move on because he wants to play football and doesn't want to sit around."
Weir spent five seasons with Rangers.
