St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has hailed the performance of Stevie May during his side's 1-0 win over Hearts in the Scottish Premier League.
The young striker, who has spent the last 18 months on loan in Scotland's lower divisions, scored the only goal of the game to see off the Jambos.
May signed a new one-year deal with the Saints over the summer, and his manager believes that he is now ready to succeed in the top flight.
"We spoke to Stevie in the summer and told him he would get opportunities this season and that it would be down to him," Sky Sports News quotes Wright as saying.
"He has taken his opportunities really well. Stevie is someone I rate very highly and I'm not surprised how quickly he has taken his chances. I saw him in training at the end of last season when he came back for 10 days after his spell at Hamilton had ended.
"I have seen other people score goals in the First Division and then do well in the SPL, so I had no real difficulty believing he could cope at this level."
May recently completed loan stints with Alloa Athletic and Hamilton Academical.
