Chris Coleman: Wales fans "can get carried away"

Wales manager Chris Coleman says that the country's fans can begin to get carried away after a 1-0 win in Cyprus moved them to the brink of Euro 2016 qualification.

Wales manager Chris Coleman has said that fans can finally get carried away about a first major tournament since 1958, but insists that the players must keep their focus until qualification is sealed.

Coleman's side beat Cyprus 1-0 in Nicosia on Thursday evening thanks to Gareth Bale's header, a result which leaves them one win away from securing a place at Euro 2016.

The 45-year-old, who praised his players for handling the pressure of the occasion, admitted that now might be time for Welsh supporters to get excited about the thought of watching their country compete in France next summer.

"My message to [the fans] is to get carried away, but we [players and coaches] cannot get carried away," he told BBC Sport.

"Players never ever mention [Euro 2016]. They know that it is there, but we must never take our eye off the goal."

Victory over Israel in Cardiff on Sunday would confirm Wales's place in next year's tournament.
