Watford take a 2-0 lead into half-time against Birmingham thanks to goals from Almen Abdi and Matej Vydra.

Watford have taken a two-goal lead into half-time against Birmingham City this afternoon.

The hosts made the perfect start to the match as Steven Caldwell shoved Matej Vydra in the air inside the box to give Watford a penalty. Almen Abdi stepped up and made no mistake with his spot kick to make it 1-0.

This lead was doubled after 17 minutes when Jonathan Hogg did well before finding Vydra, who beat the offside trap before applying the finish.

Mark Yeates continued to pile the pressure on for the Hornets, firing a powerful shot that was saved by Jack Butland.

Vydra then almost doubled his personal tally with a header that just missed the target as the half ended 2-0.
