Serena and Venus Williams have exited the US Open women's doubles at the hands of fourth seeds Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova.
The sisters, who were chasing their 14th Grand Slam doubles title, were beaten 6-1 6-4 at Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Kirilenko and Petrova were thoroughly deserving of the victory, as they won 25 more points than the American pair, who made 19 unforced errors.
Eight seeds Nuria Llagostera Vives and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez will provide the opposition for the Russian duo in the quarter-finals.
Venus's Flushing Meadows campaign is now over, while Serena remains in the singles draw following her 6-0 6-0 victory over Andrea Hlavackova in the fourth round.
