Angel di Maria plays down injury fears and hopes to make Arsenal trip

Manchester United winger Angel di Maria eases fears over his fitness after taking a knock in Argentina's 1-0 defeat to Portugal at Old Trafford.

Angel di Maria has revealed that he hopes to be fit for Manchester United's trip to Arsenal on Saturday after taking a knock in Argentina's defeat to Portugal tonight.

The winger took a heavy blow to his foot in a challenge with Nani in the first half before carrying on and being replaced on the hour mark.

Reports have suggested that the 26-year-old has been sent for an X-ray to determine the extent of the injury, but Di Maria himself has played down the severity of it and aims to be involved at the Emirates.

"It was just a blow," he wrote on Twitter. "I hope it doesn't swell any more so I can play at the weekend."

Raphael Guerreiro struck a stoppage-time winner for Portugal as Gerardo Martino's side suffered a narrow defeat at Old Trafford.
