Mikel Arteta has labelled Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's performance against Burnley "extraordinary" in spite of the attacker's struggles in front of goal.
The Gunners captain can only boast one goal from four Premier League fixtures in the 2021-22 season so far and played the full 90 at Turf Moor without finding the back of the net.
Aubameyang was memorably dropped for last season's North London derby win at the Emirates due to lateness, but Arteta has since defended his captain ahead of Sunday's visit of Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking to the media ahead of the North London derby, Arteta said: "That was just an incident that I had to make a decision. Now he is in a different position, he has been in really good form, the way he played at Burnley was extraordinary, the way he played for the team.
"He is generating the chances and we have to generate more for him. He is in good form. You need a special moment and the small details determine this type of fixture."
Arsenal welcome Spurs to the Emirates on a three-game winning streak in all competitions, and Arteta also took time to lavish praise on defender Takehiro Tomiyasu during his pre-match press conference.
