Arsenal are reportedly looking to strengthen their backline with the signing of RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
The Gunners suffered a 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, meaning that the North London outfit have failed to qualify for next season's Champions League.
Unai Emery has allegedly been left with a limited budget, with some reports saying that the Spaniard may only have £40m at his disposal, but it appears that the Premier League side are still aiming high in the transfer market.
According to ESPN, Arsenal are ready to make an approach for Upamecano, who has formed part of the Bundesliga's strongest backline during the most recent campaign.
Leipzig are currently attempting to extend the 20-year-old's contract past 2021, leaving Arsenal in a position where they will likely have to spend big in order to tempt the German side into a sale.
Upamecano has already made 75 first-team appearances in his two-and-a-half years at the Red Bull Arena Leipzig.
