Real Madrid will look to hijack Manchester City's move for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, according to a report.

Real Madrid will reportedly look to hijack Manchester City's move for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez, 28, came close to joining City during the summer, but the Gunners would not sanction the sale after failing to land Thomas Lemar from Monaco.

The Citizens are still said to hold a keen interest in the Chilean, although according to Don Balon, Pep Guardiola's side will face serious competition from Madrid as the Spanish giants look to seal a deal.

The report adds that if Los Blancos manage to land Sanchez next summer, they will look to sell Gareth Bale, with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea all believed to be closely monitoring developments.

Sanchez scored 47 times in 141 appearances for Barcelona before joining Arsenal, where he has struck 75 goals over the last four seasons.
