Report: Arsene Wenger calls Karim Benzema, asks striker to join Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger called Real Madrid's Karim Benzema in a bid to bring the striker to the Emirates, according to a report.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has spoken to Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema about a move to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window, according to a report.

The French international has been dogged by speculation over his future in the last few weeks, with the European champions allegedly eager to overhaul their squad.

According to the Metro, the Gunners boss has called up the 26-year-old to discuss a transfer to North London, claiming that he would be offered huge wages to make the move.

Cristiano Ronaldo has previously said that Benzema is the best striker in Spain.
