Mikel Rico seals points for Athletic Bilbao

Athletic Bilbao defeat Rayo Vallecano 2-1 in this evening's La Liga clash at San Mames.

Athletic Bilbao have recorded their fourth win in five games against Rayo Vallecano at home this evening.

The result sees them close the gap on third-placed Real Madrid to five points ahead of Los Blancos' clash with Valencia at the Mestalla.

Mikel San Jose put the home side ahead after 32 minutes, tapping in from close range after the ball was pumped into the box.

However, a bicycle kick from Alberto Bueno levelled matters in the 61st minute.

Moreno Mikel Rico completed the turnaround five minutes later when Aritz Aduriz collected a loose ball inside the box and teed the midfielder up to fire past Ruben.

Defeat leaves Rayo two points from safety.
