Schalke 04 director of football Horst Heldt has revealed that the club would jump at the chance to secure Ibrahim Afellay on a permanent deal.
The Dutch winger, currently on loan from Barcelona, played a starring role in Die Knappen's 2-0 victory over Arsenal in midweek, creating one goal and scoring the other.
"We could buy him for €100 million right now," said Heldt. "Realistically, our only chance right now is that Afellay says he does not want to return to Barcelona.
"If he could imagine staying here, certainly we could, too."
Schalke beat Nuremberg 1-0 this afternoon.
