Bayern Munich: 'Xherdan Shaqiri going nowhere'

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer insists that Xherdan Shaqiri will not be leaving the club before the start of the new season.

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has insisted that the club will not sell Xherdan Shaqiri this summer.

The 22-year-old has struggled to break into the Bayern side following his arrival from Basel two years ago.

However, impressive displays at the World Cup for Switzerland have seen him linked with a switch away from the Allianz Arena.

Despite reports suggesting that Shaqiri could be on his way out of Bayern ahead of the new season, Sammer is clear that the youngster will not be going anywhere.

"Xherdan is an important player for the future," he told Kicker. "We are not going to sell."

Shaqiri scored six goals in 21 appearances for Bayern in all competitions last season.
