Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has admitted five breaches of Football Association rules in relation to a text message involving a supporter.
The under-fire businessman apologised for the angry exchange last year, in which he used a derogatory term to describe fan Stephen Smith.
Oyston had initially denied the charge against him in April, suggesting that it was "unlawful", although that claim was dismissed by an arbitral tribunal.
The FA has now confirmed that disciplinary proceedings will go ahead, with a hearing on the matter due to take place next Tuesday.
A short statement added: "The charges arise from a text message exchange where Mr Oyston used abusive and/or insulting words towards a supporter of Blackpool FC, which were aggravated by a reference to disability."
Blackpool, who dropped out of the Championship last month, were recently the subject of a takeover bid.
