Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has cast doubt on David Luiz's long-term future at the club.
The Brazilian defender was omitted from the squad for the Blues' 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, with youngster Andreas Christensen chosen ahead of him.
When asked after the game whether Luiz has a future at Stamford Bridge, the Italian coach expressed uncertainty.
"I don't know [if he has a future at Chelsea], he has to work really hard with the others, otherwise they are on the bench or in the stand," Conte told Sky Sports News.
Prior to the game, the Chelsea manager insisted that he is still on good terms with Luiz and said his sidelining was purely tactical.
"No, no. Tactical decision. There is [Andreas] Christensen in really good form and also we have [Ethan] Ampadu who is a good young player. The club like to play with the young player," Conte said.
Chelsea defeated United thanks to a second-half strike from Alvaro Morata.
