Maurizio Sarri: 'Chelsea will not win Premier League title'

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri says that it will be "impossible" for his team to win the Premier League title this season.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has said that it will be "impossible" for his team to win the Premier League title this season.

Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Leicester City has left Chelsea in fourth position in the table, some 11 points off leaders Liverpool.

The Blues made a strong start to the 2018-19 campaign, but have now lost three of their last six in the Premier League, and Sarri has claimed that his team never stood a chance of landing the title this season.

"It was impossible from the beginning of the season," Sarri told BBC Sport. "As I said at the beginning of the Premier League it is impossible to catch Liverpool and Manchester City, we have to be careful to stay close to the first four positions."

Chelsea are next in action away to Watford on Boxing Day.
