Chelsea will consider appointing Louis van Gaal as their next manager should Antonio Conte get the sack, according to a report.
Van Gaal has been out of work since leaving Manchester United 20 months ago, which he recently admitted has left a bitter taste in his mouth.
The 66-year-old also suggested that he would consider returning to the Premier League if offered a job, with defending champions Chelsea the side that most appeals to him.
With Conte's future at Stamford Bridge still uncertain, The Mirror claims that Van Gaal is the shock name in the frame to take over.
However, the report indicates that Van Gaal would only be used as a temporary option, with other candidates being eyed up to succeed Conte on a long-term basis.
