Inter Milan have begun talks with Chelsea about extending the loan spell of Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku rejoined the Blues from the Italian giants in August 2021, and although he scored 15 goals in 44 appearances, the Belgian striker experienced a difficult campaign at Stamford Bridge.
He subsequently returned to Inter in the summer on a season-long loan deal, with injury issues limiting him to five appearances in all competitions.
With Chelsea not keen to bring Lukaku back at the end of the current campaign, the Daily Mail claims that Inter are in discussions about extending his loan deal by a further season.
The 29-year-old is set to return to Inter in a bid to build up his fitness after Belgium were eliminated from the World Cup.
Lukaku came off the bench in Belgium's must-win final group game against Croatia, but the game ended in a goalless draw after the forward spurned four chances.
Lukaku will look to re-discover the form that saw him score 24 league goals in 36 games to help Inter lift the Serie A title in the 2020-21 season.
