Leicester City reportedly failed to sign Malang Sarr and Nat Phillips on loan deals during the January transfer market.

Leicester City failed with loan bids for both Malang Sarr and Nat Phillips in January, according to a report.

The Foxes headed into the transfer market hoping to provide defensive cover for Brendan Rodgers due to the large number of injuries that his squad have in that area.

Jonny Evans, Wesley Fofana, and Caglar Soyuncu were all out of action at the start of the month, while Daniel Amartey was away at the Africa Cup Of Nations, which is why this was a focal point.

According to Leicestershire Live, the club tried to sign Sarr from Chelsea and Liverpool defender Phillips in the recent transfer market, but were unsuccessful with both.

The Blues had no desire to let Sarr leave, as they are currently dealing with defensive injuries themselves, while the Reds were open to Phillips moving, but not to a club deemed as a rival.

The Foxes will be back in action on Sunday when they face Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fourth round.
