Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that "legends" John Terry and Frank Lampard could receive contract extensions at Stamford Bridge.
There have been questions over the pair's futures with both Terry and Lampard coming to the end of their current terms in the summer.
However, Mourinho has claimed that the experienced members of the team will "probably" receive new contracts.
"If they get a contract in this club, which probably they will, they will do based on performance, based on the quality they are showing," The Express quotes Mourinho as saying.
"It will not be because they are legends or because we owe them something or because they want to stay here at any cost. They are performing."
Left-back Ashley Cole, who has fallen behind Cesar Azpilicueta in the pecking order, is also out of contract at the end of the season.
